Finding It Within Yourself to Keep On Gam Making
True, it's all about commitment. The lack of motivation truly fucked me over and I'm never doing that to myself again.
A Canvas For Eternity
Why are these forums relatively inactive?
To be completely blunt, I was never a fan of the forum software. While I give people like WIP credit for coming up with something original to distance from the other RPG Maker communities, I've found it to be too funky to work around with. Had the forums been your typical phpBB or MyBB installation (with custom features added in, of course), the experience would've been a lot different (and better) for me.
On top of that, the Web site has always been way too slow for my liking. Of course, if you need the funds, then the community can pitch in and get us on a much faster, more secure server.
I agree with LockeZ that it's too late to get rid of the Discord server to save these forums. People aren't suddenly going to post on the forums because their favorite chat room software isn't being promoted anymore. Instead, they'll just flock somewhere else.

Seeking Testers (Again)!
Nice, I'm glad you're enjoying the demo! I look forward to your review.
Thanks for the bug report, too. I'm assuming that by "nearby big city", you mean Sassoon? I'll check to make sure it doesn't happen on the next build.

Kind of a shame that the IRC channel no longer exists. I've never made a Discord account and I never will.
author=LockeZIRC is just a protocol, much like HTTPS or FTP. Much of the security side depends on the server configuration and which client you're using. Depending on the server, your IP address can be disguised (e.g. Rizon) without having to use a bouncer or hostmask. Even then, it's not hard to change your IP address through the use of a VPN, proxy, or Tor exit node. On servers that ban such things, well, you're taking that risk yourself. Because IRC itself can be decentralized, one can have more freedom by not being at the mercy of a corporation such as Facebook, Twitter, Discord, or Reddit (even if their forum software itself is open-source software).
I find it ironic that you would be perfectly fine using IRC, a program that broadcasts your IP address to every single user instead of just to the people in charge of the company.
Also, an IP address doesn't tell you as much about a user as their phone number does. That's where the privacy problem lies for me. Discord tracks more than just your user agent and IP address, whereas an IRC server usually requests the bare minimum. As well, if you have a private conversation with someone via IRC, there are ways to encrypt your messages (e.g. OTR, which is supported by Pidgin, HexChat, Weechat, and a few other IRC clients by means of the plugins).

There are privacy-focused browsers out there that you can use, such as Ungoogled Chromium and IceCat. Hell, even just modifying your Firefox's profile (User.js and Userchrome.css) can be a step in the right direction. Librewolf is a great fork of Firefox that I could get comfortable with using as my daily driver, as I'm still wondering if I should stay with Pale Moon (especially with the recent controversies).
Anyway, I just thought it's a shame that the IRC channel is gone. I'm fully aware that there's a way to bridge Discord, Matrix, and others in order to keep everyone engaged. Maybe it's for the best to remain on the forums and using e-mail for communication...

Demo Finally Available Again
So far, one glitch has been reported:
You can use Retreat and successfully flee the first boss battle, and the scene will carry on as if you'd beaten that boss. This is already fixed and will be on the next build.

author=unityMany things. It's a primary source of data mining. The lack of transparency in their operations makes them every bit as bad as Facebook, if not worse than. This article goes into details why Discord itself is spyware and you shouldn't trust it.
What's wrong with Discord? Been using it for years and it seems fine.
author=IrogAgreed. Ever since I made the full switch to GNU/Linux, I've been on a mission to embrace the promotion of FLOSS as much as possible. Yes, I know that the program I use to make my game is proprietary and its source code is unavailable, but it's an old program and it's as good as it gets in order to make my dream come true. I do play and test it with EasyRPG Player instead of the default RPG_RT file.
Like you, I'll never make a Discord account because Discord is a closed-source software: you never know what they do with your data and your conversations. I much prefer Mumble.
